Commercial Structure Fire - William Penn Hwy.
Sun. Sep 20th 2020

Station 64 (White Valley VFD) was dispatched by Westmoreland 911 at 9:04 PM for an exhaust fan that had caught fire inside the Murrysville Shop ’n Save within Station 20’s (Murrysville VFC) district on William Penn Hwy. Engine 64 went enroute with (8) firefighters on board. Assistant 20 arrived on scene and took command reporting nothing showing from the outside. Command 20 then proceeded into the structure to investigate and observed smoke conditions within the store. Fire was reported to be out and fire crews were requested into the rear of the structure to investigate for any extension. When Engine 64 arrived on scene crews were directed to set up ventilation at the front of the structure. Once determined there was no extension, crews from Engine 64 set up fans at the front doors of the store to push the smoke out the rear exits. Vent 3 from Westmoreland City VFD was requested into the scene to assist with ventilation efforts. When Vent 3 arrived crews used their fan to push the remaining smoke out of the store. When the haze of smoke was cleared from the store crews from Engine 64 were put back in service.

All responding companies were: White Valley VFD, Murrysville VFC, Sardis VFC, Holiday Park VFC, Export VFD, and Westmoreland City VFD, Murrysville Medic One, and Murrysville Police Department
